History of Jesus Cross My Heart Ministries (JCMHM)
— Updated May 2019
Jesus Cross My Heart Ministries was founded in 2007 by Richard P. Ware. The name "Jesus Cross My Heart Ministries" is based on an old phrase that many of us said as a child when we swore to keep a promise..."Cross my heart and hope to die; stick a needle in my eye!" With that phrase in mind, he thought about how we, as Believers, have been given the greatest promise of all. And that promise from God is eternal, cross my heart...and it is a Promise that we are all called, not to keep ourselves, but to share with the world. To preach the Good News of Jesus Christ...The Great Commission!
So out of that thought came these words: "Cross my heart and hope to live, and give me words to give to those who stumble lost through the night. And give me, Lord, a mustard seed of faith for those in need...Oh Lord, cross my heart; cross my heart and hope to live!"
From those words, a poem was birthed. From that poem, a song was born! God used Richard to create the song "Cross My Heart". Cross My Heart is the signature song for Jesus Cross My Heart Ministries.
Since the conception of Jesus Cross My Heart Ministries, the goal has remained the same...to point people to Jesus and to encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ to do the same. That is the Great Commission that Jesus has given us all. Thus, the mission statement, taken from Luke 14:23, fits right in...Then the master said to the servant, "Go our into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled."
